Homecoming Dress Shopping...

And so it begins....my freshman was asked to her homecoming dance.  We began our journey in Downtown Fontana and ended our journey there as well.  We found a dress in record time 45 minutes (that includes trying them on to!).  My girls all reuse their dresses. The dress comes back to life in some other shape or form.  I will not have any one occasion dress in my home.  We have already used some in Halloween costumes, dance recitals, weddings, and even lent them out to friends for their dances.  Dresses are just to pretty and fun to be hiding out in a closet never to be worn again.  Try hosting a dress swap, or  implement a dress check out system (if you allow someone else to borrow it).  I will be posting instructions and printables on how to host one of these!  But for now here is Sydney will her new $69 dress.

Princess Bridal is a must go if you have girls.  I have purchased 3 baptismal gowns and a few formals from them already all at reasonable prices.  Their prices are a big selling point for me but, the fact that chances are good no one else will show up with the same dress is priceless!! I love the fact that they are a  family run businesses.  SWEET!!!!

We shall start with a vacation....

From the valley to the mountains!  Labor Day weekend was the perfect chance to get away from the suburbs!  If you have teens you know that packing for a trip can be a battle...we told them three outfits, a bathing suit, and Pj's thats it!!  We packed the girls in the car
and hit the road!  The pressure girls have to look perfect all the time was thrown out the window!  They were free to wear what they wanted, to be make up free, and throw their hair in a pony tail!

We were all unplugged from our electronic devices and it felt good.  We kept so busy...it was hard for us to check emails, log onto to Facebook, or Twitter!  We had Olympic style games each night...

And hung out by the lake all day!  Bass Lake is like a 5 hour drive for us but worth every hour.  We love the long chats, and stories the girls tell us during the car ride!  It was a priceless weekend spent with family, we are so lucky to be so close to our extended family.  We had great-grandpa, great uncle and auntie, and plenty of cousins.  The girls are well aware that if they ever need anything they have a huge list of people that they can turn to.  We love that the girls keep that line of communication open with the family...in this day in age at any given time they are facebooking, texting, or IMing someone in the family.

Let's get this Party started!

I am  no stranger to the blogging world.  I had a craft blog years a go and I currently have my photography blog as well tina k. photography.  I enjoy visiting all the creative blogs out there today but, I wonder how to incorporate some of the ideas I read about in my own life.  Do I have a toddler? no scratch that idea... Am I going to redo every room in my house? Not really maybe someday.  Can I sew as if I'm on Project Runway? ummmm no.  I do have three teenage girls and I do have ideas, stories, suggestions, and real life experience that might benefit others with teens.  So sit tight, hold on, and check back often!  This is going to be a bumpy ride!
